SUPPORT THE BONNEVILLE COUNTY DEMOCRATS
The Truman Banquet is one of the main fund raisers for the Bonneville County Democrats. It’s a great time to socialize and network and the proceeds are what drives our growth and vitality. Here are a few of the things we do with the proceeds from the Truman Banquet:
- Provide support to campaigns of local Democratic candidates.
Finance a campaign headquarters during election years.
Pay for mailings that help unite Democrats keep our organization growing.
Support projects like our Fourth-of-July float.
Maintain a thriving local organization that provides a voice to the Democratic point-of-view and guarantees that YOU are represented in our local government.
2008 is going to be our year and you can help make it happen!
Brainstorming/Goal-setting Session
The Bonneville County Democrats are on a roll! We want you to help us chart the course for 2008. We want your energy and we need your ideas. Every Democrat is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Highway Cleanup
The Bonneville Democrats adopted the section of Interstate 15 between the Broadway and Airport exits. It is our responsibility to keep the trash picked up along this section of road twice a year.
WHEN: Saturday, May 10th and Saturday, September 13th WHERE: Meet at the Brows’, 2269 Calkins Avenue, Idaho Falls TIME: 9:30 a.m., May 10th and September 13th
We meet at the home of Sandy and Merrick Brow (2269 Calkins Ave). Then carpool to I-15 and walk along the highway collecting the trash. The Idaho Transportation Department provides vests and trash bags; we recommend you bring some heavy gloves, warm clothing, and sun screen. Carrie Crom lends us sticks with nails in the ends, very useful. We cover about two miles in about two hours or so.
A relief vehicle provides a lift for those who need a rest, water for everyone, and spare bags. After a few hours of exhilarating outdoor exercise, with an informal contest to see who can find the most exciting treasure, we return to Sandy and Merrick’s home to share a potluck lunch. It’s fun, it helps the community, and it provides good, healthy exercise – while providing the Bonneville Democrats with a little advertising and a great sense of accomplishment.
To volunteer for our Highway Cleanup, call Sandy Brow at 524-6230.
DEMOCRATIC FAMILY PICNIC
Join us for our annual Democrats’ potluck picnic at the park. The cost is $10 per person, but only $5.00 if you bring a dish to share. SCHOOL LUNCH BACKPACK PROJECT: Backpacks Serve Many Purposes For Local Children
The Bonneville Democrats participate in a service project that provides food to meet the basic needs of needy school children for the weekend with emphasis on food items that meet 100% of their needs of Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Iron, and calcium and enough calories to meet 75% - 100% of energy needs while limiting calories from fat. Nondescript backpacks are distributed to children in a discreet manner on the last day of the school week. The children take the food home in the backpacks and return the backpacks Monday. Thirteen schools participate in this program, including alternative and Headstart programs.
The Idaho Food bank makes this one of their priorities. Food is delivered weekly to Bonneville High School. Volunteers transport the food from the high school to a school in District 93 each Tuesday morning when school is in session. The school with the greatest need was Cloverdale Elementary School. The Bonneville Democrats adopted that school.
A big thank you to Ron and Joyce Ayers, Tom and Cheryl Cox, Keith Nielsen and Jay Rhoades, Neil and Linda Williams, Jackie Stephens and Dorothy Sweisz, and Marsha Nipper and Sandra Brow for volunteering their time to help make this project a success. If you are interested in participating, please call Carrie Crom, 525-8550.

THE ‘BIG STUFF’ – This is a Presidential Election year, and that means more activity, more excitement, more rallies, and more action. It also means a Headquarters for several months this year. We need your help. Financially we either need someone to help us find a vacant property we can use, or we need to increase contributions to help us afford to rent a spot with good access and good exposure.
DONATE MONTHLY – We are now set up to accept automatic direct-deposit monthly donations from your banking account. A small monthly contribution (even 5.00 or 10.00) a month will greatly contribute to our ability to get Democratic candidates elected and increase the Democratic presence in Bonneville County.
